FDA Partners to Construct Staff Units in Lofa

On Saturday, March 8, 2025, Madam Nora G. Bowier, the Deputy Managing Director of Community, Conservation, and Carbon, broke ground for the construction of five units in Konia, Lofa County. These units will include offices and residences for the Chief Park Warden (CPW) and Rangers. The project is funded by Fauna and Flora International and aims to enhance the Rangers' ability to monitor the Wonegizi Forest Reserve.

Madam Bowier was accompanied by her team, which included the Technical Manager for Conservation, the Protected Area Manager, and staff from Fauna and Flora. They traveled to Lofa County for the groundbreaking ceremony, which drew a diverse group of citizens from the affected communities.

During the ceremony, Madam Bowier expressed gratitude to Fauna and Flora for their support of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) during these challenging times. Following the ceremony, she visited Zigida Town, where she engaged with community members about the importance of protecting the Wonegizi Forest Reserve. She commended the residents for their cooperative relationship with the FDA.

At the conclusion of her visit, Madam Bowier held a meeting with the elders of Konia Town to thank them for their efforts in safeguarding the Wonegizi Forest Reserve. She assured them that the FDA would provide more livelihood support to the communities as the forest protection efforts continue. The elders expressed their appreciation for the FDA delegation's visit and shared that all affected communities maintain a positive working relationship with Mr. Sam Freeman, the Chief Park Warden of Wonegizi.
