The one-day training was held on January 16, 2026, at the FDA headquarters and represents a significant advancement in the country’s efforts to protect its elephant population.
FDA Launches Public Portal
The FDA portal contains information related to the Forestry sector, per the 2006 National Forestry Reform Law. It is a repository of critical information, such as forest concessions, community forestry agreements, and revenue reports, and accessible to the public. It will serve as a vital tool for accountability, stakeholder empowerment, and the advancement of the forestry sector in line with national and international priorities. It will also support informed decision-making for sustainable forest governance.
Human-Elephant Conflict Prompts Swift Government Response
GBARMA DISTRICT, Gbarpolu County - A surge in human-elephant conflicts, leaving a trail of destroyed farms and rising food insecurity, has prompted a swift and coordinated government response in western Liberia. From August 14-16, a high-level assessment team visited devastated communities in Grand Cape Mount and Gbarpolu Counties to evaluate the damage and plan immediate interventions.
